Important untouched painting on Masonite by Frederick
Judd Waugh (1861-1940) titled “Brahms Symphony
#2 in D Major” in original frame with Grand Central Art
Gallery label, 30” x 36”, subject is Alaskan snow-filled
mountains, cliffs and water, certainly one of Waugh’s
best; oil on board seascape by Frederick Judd Waugh titled “Sunlit
Surf”, 25” x 30”, in original frame and untouched
condition, with Quantrell Provenance on back; oil on board
seascape Frederick Judd Waugh titled “Sketch”,
in original frame with Grand Central Art Gallery label, 14½” x
20”, also in untouched condition. NOTE: All
three Frederick Judd Waugh paintings were under glass and have
never been exposed and are in excellent condition. Watercolor
of Monhegan cape house with garden, etc. by Samuel
Peter Rolt Triscott (1846-1925), measures 18” x
22”; colorful double portrait of Morton Quantrell and
his mother by Howard Chandler Christy (1872-1952),
in original signed Pancani hand carved frame,
32” x 40”. Christy used his radiant blue paint
to paint young Morton’s jumpsuit; a group of drawings
by Sears Gallagher (1869-1955), executed
in 1917 while on a fishing trip to Sebago Lake; framed watercolor
of boat by William Thon (1906-2000), 3” x
4” image; two other small William Thon watercolors; portrait
of Anna Maria Stocker (Mrs. Lawrence Lewis) by Pennsylvania
portrait artist Jacob Eichholtz (1776-1842),
in original frame, 25” x 30”. This painting is
listed in the Jacob Eichholtz Book by Rebecca J. Beal, plate
#468, complete with Provenance and sold with the family copy
of the book. NOTE: This painting was sold
at our Summer 2007 auction but never paid for or picked up.;
large oil on Masonite by Thomas Locker (b. 1937),
Maine moonlit winter scene, 42” x 50”, in original
frame; watercolor seascape by Eliot Pearson Beveridge,
20 th c. North haven, Maine artist, 15” x 22”;
two (2) watercolors by Gwen James Cook; watercolor
still life painting by Janet Laura Scott, b. 1919 (Carroll
Thayer Berry’s wife), 12” x 18”, framed;
set of four (4) abstract tribal paintings.
