War, 1911, with blue covers; 4 volumes of War
Papers 1898. These books belonged to Dr. Abner Shaw,
surgeon of the 20 th Maine. Dr. Shaw saved the life of General
Joshua Chamberlain after being wounded.; two (2) volumes
of North American Indians by George
Catlin, 1941, London, with green hard cover; complete set
of Adjutant General’s Reports 1861-1866 in
six volumes. One of a few finely bound sets given to only
the high ranking officers and statesmen after the Civil War.;
four (4) volumes Battles and Leaders of the Civil
War published by the Century Co.., N.Y., 1888;
two (2) volumes Memoirs of General W. T. Sherman,
1891 edition; Maine at Gettysburg,
1898, leather with green cover; personal memoirs of U.
S. Grant, 1885, with medallion cover; from Manassas
to Appomattox by Longstreet, 1903 edition; My
Life experiences Among Our Hostile Indiansby
Major General O. O. Howard, 1907; Adelbert Ames 1835-1933 by
Blanche Ames Ames, 1964 edition; 2 volumes chronicles from
the nineteenth century privately printed in 1957 from the
family letters of Blanche Butler and Adelbert Ames; Butler’s
Book by Benjamin F. Butler 1892, 1 st edition; two (2)
box lots of books about Portland, Maine history; 2 volumes
of Spark’s Campfire; a collection of signed John
Gould books along with some original manuscripts;
