Highlights include: Rare handwritten letter by Andrew Wyeth with study drawings of known paintings, Officer’s white dress shirt belonging to Gen. George Armstrong Custer when he was Capt. Custer, Civil War guns include; Winchester 1866 “Yellow Boy” carbine, Model 1860 Colt pistol with shoulder stock, Confederate Naval cutlass, several Civil War carbines including a Sharps, Spencer, Warner, Starr, Hall, first generation Colt pistol, plus many swords, rare James De Wolfe letter pertaining to the slave trade and signed De Wolfe papers, all from the remaining collection of Charles Dana Gibson and his wife Kay Gibson, Other highlights: 1904 Olympic medal silver golf trophy won by Francis Newton, also the 1909 Del Monte Golf Championship golf trophy won by Francis Newton, Fine Early American furniture, Wonderful 19th c. life size carved Roman Soldier figure probably Black Forest, 19 th c. Carousel horse in park paint, Wonderful grain decorated wooden works Maine grandfather clock, tiger maple slant front deck with O.G. feet, lots of tiger maple furniture items, carved pilot house wooden eagle, paintings by Robert Henri, Kenneth Noland, Arthur H.K. Hammond, William Thon, Leo Brooks, also many items of Interest from Folk Art, Tiffany sterling silver, oriental rugs, early samplers, a good selection of rare books and research books from the Gibson library and much more !!
